A couple of days ago already (yeah yeah I had been busy, see more on that part later in the entry) I went to the Nijntje Museum with Denise and Luca (so, Luca went with his mom and dad for the first time since long)… and… we had great fun! It was a really… REALLY great day to experience again and I think that we all had a very good feeling about it :-).
We went to the museum in Utrecht, next to the Central Museum, when you enter the museum the first thing that you actually see, are the colors that are being used in the books of Nijntje. They are all build in ehm “corner” shapes (actually a cube, with only the outer infrastructure in place.. not sure how to write that :-)) and give a great view if you look into them, I think Luca also recognized them (I made some pictures of the colors so I will upload them later :-)).
After that we went into the second room, where we had a lot of nijntje / Miffiy and other language-variations of Nijntje books on the wall. Luca wanted to grab them along to home, but luckily for the museum they were firmly fixed to the wall. I must admit that I had never seen so many Nijntje books together, if you read the books as a child it’s worth visiting already!
You could also listen to the books in spoken form, various languages where possible and if you listen to the Japanese version you can really enjoy it too (because it sounds funny for us dutch people) and Luca also loved to listen, but after some time he wanted to proceed. So we continued onwards to the next room where you could see some history of Dick Bruna and the Nijntje books and how they were written etc. Not very interesting for a little kid though, so we continued onward to the next room again and there we saw a huge playground with all kinds of Nijntje materials.. You could play a couple of computer games, which needed some thinking, some puzzles, memory, you could play with a train, cubes with all nijntje characters, you could play in nijntje’s house, and do some more activities, the best part for kids !! (or perhaps also for the parents, review the photo’s ;)).
We also went upstairs for a little where you learn more about the A.W. Bruna company and “De zwarte beertjes” which is famous in the netherlands
again not that interesting for the little kids but you’ll see some things that you have seen before.. I swear
After that we drove to my home and visited Martijn and my dad (who greatly enjoyed seeing Luca and Denise :-)) and finally we headed to one of the bear restaurants where we had dinner (Sate menu and for Luca kipnugget menu).
Sadly the evening stopped shortly after that when I drove home Luca and Denise, I drunk some coffee at their place and then headed home again, needed to work the day after etc
The day after was also busy for me
(yeah yeah good excuses :-)); First i needed to head to The Hague to work there, and then head to Snow for a monthly Snow Meeting, where I met a few new guys that are now contracted by Snow.. (interested? Poke me :-)) and followed a Presentation about Zope/Plone, interesting software but rather heavy I think (need to play with it at some time :-)). After that we had a very good Dutch dish (various Hutspot and Stamppot food thingies like Zuurkool and Boerenkool etc) and I headed home again.
After arriving Home I celebrated the birthday of my father and my granny was also there so we chatted a bit and watched the soccergame Feyenoord - Groningen.. Which Feyenoord won
Some busy days, but the weekend will be much better, Luca will be spending the weekend at my place again and he first needs to swim tommorrow so that will be a great weekend!
