Last period I read a lot of articles regarding the privacy in Europe, and that we are seeing similiar things as in China. China is a dictorial regime, where a few people tell what will happen and what will not happen. A bit like Europe's Hitler a while ago. Basically it's the same as "democracy" in our modern western world. Only here we are being told that we choose someone and that we are stuck with them. A small group of people decide for others what is best, eventhough they are not consulted for it (or when they say an explicit "NO" to Europe's tighter integration, they do not accept it and start all over, in a way that makes sure that the people are no longer being consulted).
Returning to the topic: Europe is filtering like China. A small group of people tell providers, based on "some" assumption that they should filter traffic to an IP address. Nobody for a fact can say that the filters are doing what they are supposed to do, or just control the way information flows. I think you can compare it with news papers being controlled so that people do not get some information (which might be damaging to the crowd/government).
The knife that is being hold to enforce this is childabuse on the internet. Presentations towards the dutch government told them that it's very difficult to find child abuse in the first place. People doing that, and using children's porn etc, are sophisticated people that are likely to be one step ahead of technology (heavy encryption, hiding images, secret secure servers where you only have access with a set of tokens / privileges that you must get before going further etc). So do we actually believe that we are going to stop that by having a filter? One of the things that will happen for sure is that it gets even more difficult to find these people performing these actions ( I am against Childabuse and Children's porn ) so it's more difficult to punish them, and never ever find it at some point. I think that's a much worse situation then we have now, where we at least can capture a few of those guys periodically.
Filtering is out of the question. Governments seem eager to control more and better without actually seeing what impact that has in a few years.
Lets see the Dutch OV Chipkaart. This is a mifare classic chip (Yes the one that had been copied easily within a few seconds) that will provide the card holder with easy to use chips to gain access to the public transport. Not realising though is that everyone that has a chip, especially when it's bound to your account, is traceable from beginning to end. Bye Bye privacy, you can no longer travel anonymously. Beyond that prices increase so things get more expensive, while we get told that that isn't the case.
Dutch Public Transport is authorised to do advertisements based on the route you take, so if you travel from Rotterdam to The Hague everyday, you will get personal ad's for that. That could lead to imbalanced credits for people that do not need them etc.
Another thing is that cars will get a GPS Transmitter from the government { which you should obviously pay for yourself } so that we can do accounting per driven KM. This will enable the government to see where all cars are, without needing to have any information at all. No more making out with your girlfriend in the forest, people will find your car easily.
Yet another item is that we will get electronic files on your hospital visits. It does not matter that external country's already had major problems with them, saw their files being stolen, lost, used bogusly by new employers etc. How would it be when you sollicite for a job, and people read your medical file, and saw that you had the chicken pox at some point. You might get excluded for the company for just that. That's not alright!
The reason this is such a problem, is like with the "voting machines" of recently. It's uncontrollable. No one can see the procedures, can do a check whether it is indeed secure etc. Everything is deeply hidden within the angles of the government. Now I know that in China these things also happen, but we call them a country under "dictatorship". It's nothing more then stating the obvious there, while we are seeing that as well. I believe that we are heading the same way, if we aren't there already.

De laatste tijd lees ik veel artikelen over de privacy in Europa, en dat we soortgelijke dingen zien als in China. China is een dictoriaal regime waar een handje vol mensen verteld wat er wel en niet kan en mag gebeuren. Zoiets als wat Europa's Hitler deed een tijd geleden. Eigenlijk is het een vorm van "democratie" zoals wij deze zien in de moderne westerse wereld. Alleen hier worden we verteld dat we voor iemand kiezen en daaraan vast zitten. Een kleine groep mensen beslist voor de meerderheid wat het beste is, ook al wordt dat niet gevraagd (of wanneer er een expliciete "NEE" komt voor een verdere integratie, wordt deze verworpen, wordt er een nieuwe manier gevonden om hetzelfde te bereiken, zonder dat de mensen geconsult hoeven te worden).
Terugkerende naar het onderwerp: Europa's filtering is net als in China, een kleine groep mensen verteld de providers, dat op basis van "iets" er verkeer gefiltered moet worden naar een IP adres. Niemand kan met zekerheid zeggen dat de filters doen wat ze zouden moeten doen, of dat deze alleen controleren welke informatie flows er zijn. Ik denk dat je deze kunt vergelijken met de kranten die worden gecontroleerd door mensen die sommige informatie niet willen (Welke alleen maar schadelijk kan zijn voor de mensen of overheid); beiden is niet goed.
Het mes dat wordt gebruikt om dit kracht bij te zetten is kinderporno op het internet. Recentelijke presentaties richting de Nederlandse overheid, heeft aangetoond dat het verdomd lastig is om kinderporno te achterhalen. Mensen die hieraan bijdragen zijn erg ontwikkelde mensen die altijd een stap voor liggen op technology (zware encryptie, verstoppen van plaatjes, beveiligde en geheime servers, waar je alleen op kan komen met een combinatie van tokens / privileges), dus geloven we echt dat we deze mensen gaan stoppen door het hebben van een filter? Één van de dingen die zeker zal gebeuren is dat het nog moeilijker wordt om de mensen te vinden die dit gedrag vertonen (Ik ben tegen kindermisbruik en kinderporno), dus het is lastiger om deze mensen op te sporen en te straffen, op een gegeven moment zal dat zelfs haast onmogelijk zijn. Ik denk dat de huidige situatie dan toch beter is waar je op zijn tijd toch een aantal van de mensen voor het gerecht kunt brengen.
Filteren is geen optie. Overheden zijn erop gebrand om meer en betere controle te houden zonder te zien wat voor impact deze dingen hebben over een aantal jaar.
Laten we eens kijken naar de Nederlandse OV chipkaart, dit is een mifare classig chip (ja inderdaad de chip die binnen luttele seconden gekopieerd werd) welke de kaart houder het gemakkelijk maakt om met behulp van chips toegang te krijgen tot de OV in nederland. Hierbij wordt dan niet nagedacht dat de chip, zeker de kaarten die op naam gebonden zijn, traceerbaar is van begin tot eind. Dag dag privacy, je kunt niet langer anoniem reizen. Daarnaast stijgen de prijzen dus alles wordt nog duurder ook, terwijl ons verteld wordt dat dat niet het geval is.
De nederlandse OV sector is geauthoriseerd om advertenties te doen op basis van de route die je neemt, dus als je periodiek van Rotterdam naar Den haag reist, krijg je daar persoonlijke advertenties voor. Dat kan leiden tot ongebalanceerde kortingen voor mensen.
Een ander iets is dat alle auto's een soort GPS zender krijgen van de overheid { Die je dan waarschijnlijk zelf weer mag betalen } zodat we kilometerheffing kunnen doen. Dit stelt de overheid in staat om gemakkelijk alle auto's te zien zonder dat daar enige extra informatie over nodig is. Dat wordt niet meer fozen met je vriendin in het bos, mensen kunnen je auto makkelijk vinden...
En nog een item is dat we electronische patienten dossies gaan krijgen. Het maakt niet uit dat andere landen al hele grote problemen hiermee gehad hebben, dat bestanden gestolen zijn, kwijt geraakt zijn, gebruikt worden abusievelijk door nieuwe werkgevers etc Zie je het al voor je dat gaat solliciteren en dat men toevallig je medisch dossier heeft gelezen, en dat je op een gegeven moment in je leven de waterpokken hebt gehad? Je kunt geweigerd worden op basis daarvan, dat is niet goed!
De reden dat dit zo'n probleem is, is dat het net is als met de "Stem apparaten" recentelijk; het is oncontroleerbaar. Niemand kan de procedures inzien, kan een check doen of het echt veilig is. Alles is verstopt diep in de angels van deoverheid. Nu gebeuren deze dingen in China ook, maar dit land noemen we een land onder dictatorship. Het is niets meer dan het duidelijke specificeren, terwijl wij ook zulk gedrag zien. Ik vrees dat wij dezelfde kant opgaan, als we daar niet al zijn.[/lang_nl]
