So, Guardian finally has an old name that had been used before. Caelis. One of the sons of “Aglaranna” and “Thomas”. Given the importance of the machine it’s only rightful that it is named after one of the royals of Feists books. I had updated it to the latest -current again as well. It crashed a few times lately, seemingly in the UFS code region. Switching /usr/obj to a ZFS store the problem vanished, so it might be a disk issue (the primairy disk needs replacement, which is in the box already but needs buildup). Oh well the box runs again
[lang_en]There are a few updates that I failed to mention so far! We have now perfect wifi coverage in our house. Originally I used an hostapd device from Atheros but the machine didn't cope well with it (might be because of the environment though); so I bought a Cisco 4400N Wireless Access Point, I set it in a different location then the soekris device is, and it gives full strength so far. I just placed it under bed / in the bed-closet thingy. We also have a DVD/5.1 and 32" LCD upstairs now, which is a good addition to our 5.1/DVD/HD/DigitalBox/40" LCD downstairs
. It hosts my Conceptronic device so that we can look movies and listen to music from the bed. Handy with kids if you have a few movies available online
I also cleaned up the garden today, or at least I tried to clean it with the high pressure water thingy, which worked for 90%, all the mud that came out of it is now in one small piece of the garden which I need to cleanup when it's dry again (I did this while it was raining, hey, I needed to do it anyway): I also replaced one stone, which was taken out for the sale of the house (it hosted the pole with the "For sale" sign
) and I removed some weeds that should not be there

We are closely following the schedule for FreeBSD 7.2, and so far we are on the correct schedule. Some caveats had been resolved lately, especially it seems with if_bce. Please give RC2 a spin and report any regression etc to us so that we can try to fix this.
