As some might have seen already on the cvs-* mailinglists, we have started the preparations for the 7.1-release build. That means that the 7-STABLE branch is renamed to 7.1-PRERELEASE and finally gets branched at some point after which it will be 7-STABLE again.
DO NOT PANIC if you read this in your kernel after updating today. It’s nothing to worry about. We are trying to get a new release out soon, please headsup for that. Bring along your towel if you are really afraid

Remko, is there any chance for having iwn driver backported from 8.0-CURRENT to 7.1-RELEASE. Intel 4965AGN driver is very frequent now, e.g. in laptops, and its hard to live without it. So unless the driver panics the kernel, I support its backporting… (even if there are some minor flaws).
Petr,
I think you should ask Benjamin Close (benjsc@) about the status of this driver.
He also brought in the wpi (Intel 3945ABG) driver.
iwn(4) had been imported by Sam Leffler, as far as I was able to see. I asked him whether this could be merged to stable/7 either by him or by myself if he approves that.
We’ll see how that goes

I second the iwn driver. Congrats on the impending release.
Remko, thanks very much for talking to Sam on this. Let us know if there’s some progress there.
[...] must hurry too! 7.1-PRERELEASE was tagged not so long ago, but I believe that the current 7.0 ebuilds will make any further upgrade alot [...]

I’ve backported the driver to 7-STABLE, and it works nicely for me.
